Our Brisbane Holiday

How is a Brisbane holiday different to any other holiday? Visitors are so close to so many attractions that it is hard to compare this city to other Australian locations. The Gold and Sunshine Coasts, Moreton Bay and islands, theme parks, mountains, great weather, and we could go on.

For us, a visit to Brisbane is special since we lived in in the city for many years, and so have many friends to share the experience with. It was only two years ago we left the city, but how much it has changed! It is struggling a bit with the growth, but 'them's the breaks' when you are popular.

Australia is in the grips of a severe drought, the worst in the nation's recorded history. We see evidence of the drought in our home in Leeton, with farmers going to the wall. But it is quite a different experience in Brisbane. Severe water restrictions are in place, limiting each person's daily water usage to 140 litres. When you think about it, that's not much water. One shower alone could use this amount, let alone clothes washing, dishwashing and other cleaning. Forget about watering outside the home. The city has less than 2 years water supply, so obviously drastic measures are necessary.

We recommend, if you ever get to this beautiful Queensland location, going on the citycat. The council operates many of the watercrafts, so the wait for one to come is not too long. From the citycat you will get many great photo opportunities, as we did (see photos below).

So why is it that we are featuring photos from our trip on Great Australian Homes.com? There are currently 1.6 million Australians who call Brisbane their home. And more Australians are planning to call this city home than any other city nationwide. So why not take a look at what this city looks like?
