Lucknow

Lucknow's existence is all about mining. Gold, more specifically. The town was the site of Australia's second discovery of gold, second only to Ophir. The 1860's saw most activity. By 1937 mining ceased when the mining company ran out of money.

The village is 9km south-east of Orange on the Mitchell Highway. The village is a step back in time, as it largely remains as it was when mining activities still operated. Old diggings and mining relics, arevery evident.
