Wallerawang is a small town with a population near 2,000. It is close by Lithgow, to the north-west.
Although having a relatively long history, the town really came into its own in the 1950's with the commissioning of the Power Station. This station has been important for the town, economically, as it also demands coal from the nearby mines.
The power station is cooled by the waters of Lake Lyell. Another lake, closer to town, is Lake Wallace, which is the place for recreational pursuits.
